Flat tire!!!

Tonight I was going to eat at one of my favorite places...Downtown Philly!  If you haven't been, you need to!  I mean right now.  Run, you wont regret it :)  Its on 10600s and Redwood Rd and is right across from Cafe Rio.  Yummy philly cheese steaks, mmm.   Getting back to the story, I was going with my friend Kim to DP and I got a flat tire.  The tire is beat, it has 2 significant holes in the side of it.  How this happened, I do not know!  Kim and I decided a wide mouthed boxed toothed snake attacked it.  Anyway... so we go eat and come back out to change the tire.  I get all the stuff ready and right when I am about to loosen the lug nuts 3 people offer to help.  The one couple had never changed a flat, but was willing to try, and the other was an older gentleman that took control.  We get everything looking great and what do you know, the tire wont come off of the wheel!  He starts pulling and pulling some more and nothing happens.  Another gentleman sees that we are working on the tire and comes over to help.  He starts pulling like none other and shaking my car like there is no tomorrow, and still nothing happens.  After about 5 minutes of this I tell them that I have road side assistance and that I would just call them.  I thanked them for their help, they wish me the best of luck and go on their way.  Then a young man comes up asking if I needed help, and I told him I was just going to call for road side assistance.  He mentioned he was a mechanic and that he thinks he might be able to help out.  So of course I said sure.  He starts kicking the tire but nothing happens.  He showed me that it was rusted together, which mind boggles me... I just had my tires rotated about 2000 miles ago.  He leaves after trying some more and I decide that before I call road side assistance that I would call Mr. Car Man aka my dad.  My parents come and my dad tries everything he knows and nothing is working. I call road side assistance and they send a truck to help.  Before the truck arrives 5 more people come to help, one being a mechanic.  They all try different things, but no, it doesn't come off.  Then by some brilliance my mom remembers my cousin Scott.  He lives 2 blocks away and has every tool known to man (I swear he does).  My dad calls him and asks him to bring a sledge hammer and some WD40.  Scott comes and is pounding my tire with a sledge hammer and after a few minutes it came off!!!!!  I call the truck and tell them I will no longer be needing their assistance, and my friend Kim and I leave the parking lot after being there for 1 hour (not including the eating time.  Just the tire adventure time :)  But the amazing thing is that not including my family at least 11 people tried to help and I would guess more like 20 offered.  The Human Race has hope my friends!!!!!  People are good!!!!!  I am so grateful for this fact :)  We hear all the time on the news how horrible things are, but this just shows that life is good.  That people are good.  That God loves me,  He sent so many people to my rescue.... so happy!!!!!

Summer is here!

Summer is actually here! I was really worried that we weren't going to have a summer with all the snow, rain, and cold temps. But I have gone hiking quite a bit lately, which means it must be summer :) I went hiking a few weeks ago up to Bell Canyon (which is one of my favorite hikes) and there was so much water that the trail was covered!!!! There was a river running through the trail for a good mile. The hard part of that was you were going up the "stair master from you know where" while trying not to slip, and trying to stay a little dry. The waterfall was beautiful, and the journey definitely worth it!

I also found 2 new trails that I have never done before and they are beautiful! They are both up Big Cottonwood Canyon and actually start in the same parking lot. The first is Broads Fork, and the second is Lake Blanche. We didn't get to the "top" of either because of time restraints, but I will go back and do them again for sure! I especially loved the Lake Blanche trail! It stays pretty close to a river which is just beautiful to me (I love water!!!! It calms me and reminds me there is just more to life than just me).

I know this is getting long, and many of you don't really care to hike, but the hikes above are just amazing! I love to be outside in the mountains, realizing that God made all of it because he loves me! He did it all for me, because He knew that I would enjoy it, that I would think it was beautiful, that I would need it to relax and be rejuvenated! I am so grateful for a Heavenly Father who knows me so well!

Favorites

I am sitting here on a beautiful Sunday Evening and watching one of my favorite movies from way back when. So you are asking yourself what could this movie be.... well it is a disney, with lots of good one liners, adventure, a circus, and a cute little monkey. Yes my friends it is Toby Tyler. If you have never watched this movie, borrow it from me or net flicks it asap. I loved this movie as a kid and my sister Kelli gave it to me a few years back (thanks Kell). Watch it, you will love it!

WOW!

So it really has been a while and quite a lot has happened. I did buy my little house (condo) and it has been wonderful!!!!! I am working on pictures for you... so keep being patient. I have absolutely loved it!

My friend Kelly and I went down to southern Utah and hiked and camped. We went to Bryce, which I can't remember ever going to until now. We also hiked to a little waterfall called Cafe Creek Falls. They are beautiful and if you haven't gone yet you need to!

I backpacked up by the Tetons, which was really a lot of fun. We started off by taking a wrong trail so we had to bushwack up the side of a mountain. Yes my friends with all however many pounds on our backs we went up a mountain with out a trail. We finally found the trail and stayed on it the rest of the way. The trail was only about 7 miles long but there were some really steep parts that lasted quite a long time.... which completely tired out my legs. We finally made it to our destination and the lake was beautiful! The great part was that we were not even eaten by a grizzly bear!!!!! We however did feel a couple of earth quakes, which was kind of fun :)

School started up again and I have a lot of great kids! I have never had this many before, which means my program is growing... which is a good thing. The hard part is ... I have never had this many kids before and it is a little more difficult. But like I said, I have great kids :)
